Gluten free eating through Asia

About Me

I'm a freelance dance filmmaker in my working life. I've been leading a gluten free existence since 2012, my father has the same condition and although neither of us are diagnosed celiacs we both follow a strict gluten free diet to avoid illness.

I have always wanted to travel, but due to lack of time and money I haven't managed it until now. I've recently had a couple of trips to Asia where I experienced some phenomenal food and met some wonderful people!

About this Blog

Please note: I will update this blog as and when I have time, I hope you find the current blogs helpful for your travels.

I decided to start this blog about half way through a recent trip to Japan. I had done weeks of preparation for my visit about what and where I could eat, sadly most of that went out of the window due to places being closed down, they didn't exist etc.

I felt I needed to add my experiences to what is currently quite a limited pool of resources, so that other gluten free types can visit Asia - in particular Japan - with more confidence in what they can eat.

I have also travelled to Thailand and will share information on that too, I'd like to quickly say that I found Thailand easier to find safe food than Japan, because they don't put soy sauce in everything!

I'd like to introduce my lovely friend Sian who has written a few blogs for the site about her travels in South America! As she's veggie and wheat free she appreciates how tricky it is to find food that is safe when in another country. Enjoy!
